Gastric Bypass Testimonials
Kathy A.
As far as I can remember,
I've always been a chubby child. From my 14 years I
started taking a lot of weight. I dared not go out
without a big sweater and jogging to hide my forms. So I started a
plan to end the extra pounds and it was from there that I fell into a
downward spiral.
I tried everything: diet
pills, protein meals, special dishes, Weight Watchers herbal cures,
nutritionists, etc ... And nothing worked.
I was so accustomed to
being overweight, until 2003 when it turned into morbid obesity when my
weight shot up to reach the 112 kg (for 1.62 m) in 2006.
Following several health
problems and no longer beaing able to bear my reflection in the mirror, a final
solution presented itself to me: gastric bypass surgey.
I knew nothing about the
different means used for this type of surgury except the gastric band. The doctor made me aware
of all the possibilities and advised me to do a bypass, which was, in his
experience, most suited to my case. Having considered all the
risks, benefits and drawbacks of this operation and after careful
consideration, I asked him
to perform the procedure as soon as possible.
I had some trepidations but in fact, the operation
went very well and the pain was very tolerable. The work was excellent. After a month the results
are already noticed and the change was obvious and impressive.
From there my life has
tilted in a fairy tale. Today (two years after
surgery), I weigh 63 kg. So I came to a normal
weight and I eat everything that makes me want (limited and balanced of
course). There is still a daily
vitamin intake added to the diet.
The gastric bypass surgry is truly
revolutionary and I am now a radiant young woman, full of
life and especially good in her skin. And I advise everyone to
be suffering from obesity and could no longer cope, to opt for this
method of weight loss.
I never regretted my decision.

I started gaining weight at the age of 6 years when my mother returned to work she had stopped for almost 7 years. This weight gain, probably due to a sore point, has increased over the years despite the regimes at home, with family, stay in clinic for obese children, visits to a psychologist and to top it all 2 attempted suicides by drugs.
After many attempts, I had a psychoanalysis and was diagnosed with severe depression that lasted 12 years.
6 years ago, I heard about the gastric bypass sugery. I thought this might concern me most and I decided to do this surgury. I first consulted a doctor who explained to me how it was done. 6 months later I did the gastric bypass surgry. I weighed 130 pounds before the gastric bypass surgery and I lost 60 pounds since. Do a quick maths: I now weigh 70 pounds!
I am convinced that many obese people feel very bad about themselves. This would be a shame not to take this operation; to feel accepted in the society but also desired. I am a very happy and satisfied woman and I'm also very proud of myself, for having the courage to do this surgery.
Please note that the two patients above are from my french colleague Dr. Tahrat.

I had Gastric Bypass in Nov. 2001. I lost 143lb. I was down to 120lb. In the last 3 yrs. I have had a lot of stress in my life and my old eating habits have returned. I was back up to 215 but as of now I am back down to 188lb. I am having a tough time but I am determined to lose again. I have removed most of the stressing problems but some are still there but I am trying to ignore most of them. It can be done and I hope this will be a help to others that have had this problem.
