Online Gastric Bypass Support Groups
74Online Gastric Bypass Support Groups
Experiencing the side effects of a gastric bypass, implementing a new diet after your gastric bypass and experiencing a sudden weight loss is a serious, sometimes painful issue that can change your entire lifestyle upside down and bring emotional turmoils in your life.
I urge those who suffer not to take this list below as exhaustive and to make your own research online. If ever you find a new support group for gastric bypass surgery, please leave a comment below.
Most doctors are aware that severely obese people are prone to prejudice and
discrimination. An extra dose of
compassion and respect will help them overcome their feelings of
rejection. It belongs primarily to
the close ones of the patient to demonstrate a particular understanding.
Obesity worsens
the quality of life well beyond the effects that cause medical
complications of the disease. A significant weight loss
brings a dramatic improvement in quality of life of the patients but sometimes patients feel like they have lost their identity and they need a group to share their stories, difficulties, emotional distress and support.
Gastric bypass surgical treatment has no
place in the absence of other therapy. There is no ideal
response, and they all have drawbacks, albeit with some compromises. The list below will somehow help alleviate the emotional pain of patients who have undergone the gastric bypass surgery.
This text will have
achieved its purpose if it helps patients cope with their
illness and whether it supports their decision to face the
appropriateness of surgical treatment.
Online Gastric Bypass Support Groups
MD Junction Gastric Bypass Support Group is an online community where patients, friends, parents, family members meet to discuss everything related to Gastric Bypass Surgery. It is a free community but you must be registered to interact with other members of the support group. This support group has currently 266 members and you can do join discussion boards, wear a ribbon, write a diary, rate and review a doctor and hug your friends.
Daily Strength Support Group is based on the same model as MDJunction but over there, you not only get support for your gastric bypass surgery but you can also ask experts questions and get instant answers, chat with friends and create a wellness journal, research the latest treatment and news and create personal goals and track your progress. The interface of Daily Strength is also more visually appealing than MDJunction.
Obesity help is a online web 2.0 platform much the same like facebook but for obese people who are undergoing surgeries. You can create a profile, upload photos, interact with people, leave comments, make friends and support each other. But note that obesity help is not limited to gastric bypass patients only. It has a forum and a question and answer section as well as a magazine.
ThinnerTimes Forum is an international obesity surgery forum for both gastric bypass and Lap-Band® patients. There are now over 9,000 members and nearly 600,000 posts. Please feel free to read the posts. Better yet, join, ask questions, and share your hopes, feeling, and experiences.
Weight loss surgery has become a popular option for obese patients but what are the options and the risks? If you have already had a gastric bypass, stomach stapling, or gastric banding surgery, you need to talk to others who've shared the experience. Find information and support there.
The Sentara CarePlex Hospital Online Gastric Bypass Support Group is
available for people who have had a gastric bypass, and for those who
are researching this surgery for obesity. The Bariatric Program
Coordinator for Sentara CarePlex Hospital, Susie Rohling, moderates this

I have a dear friend who had this surgery last Fall and she is 'recovering' fairly well.
I'll have to tell her about this hub and the support groups available.
Thanks for this, DrJohn.
